Earth Day
Earth Day is an annual event on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The theme for Earth Day 2023 is "Invest in our Planet" with the motto "Everyone is accounted for, everyone is accountable." This theme emphasizes the need for action at all levels, from individuals to governments and institutions, to invest in the planet and take responsibility for our actions. Earth Day is an annual celebration that honors the achievements of the environmental movement and raises awareness of the need to protect the Earth’s natural resources for future generations. The first Earth Day was held April 22, 1970.
In our Academy, we contribute to protecting our environment. Below are some of the activities we have done with our students:
* Talking about planet Earth, and what our planet means to everyone.
* How important it is to keep our home, the Earth, safe and clean (watched short films adjusted to the children's age).
* The youngest students painted pictures of planet Earth and displayed them on the walls of the classroom.
* The students were introduced to the three R’s; Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and various activities were made for them to understand and most importantly apply them in everyday living.
* They recycled paper, plastic, and biodegradable materials; each in different colored containers.
* Students reused old cans to make pencil holders.
Happy Earth Day everybody!
